June 14, 1931 - November 7, 2022
Born in Port au Choix, June14, 1931 and died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on November 7, 2022. He leaves to mourn, his wife of 64 years, Genevieve (Cornick), 4 daughters and 3 sons. Dolores (Dean), Wanda (Calvin), Beverly (Dwight), Dion (Jenny), Derek, Vonnie (Philip) and Darren (Sarah). His brother Eddie Lavers (Shirley) of Georgetown, On and his sisters-in-law, Evangeline Barrett (Robert) and Juliette Cornick.
He leaves 9 grandchildren: Gwyn, Cameron, Megan, Michelle, Dominique, Kristopher, Karla, Liam and Evan. 7 Great grandchildren: Finn, Mya, Jacob, Ivy, Katie, Karson and Khloe. He also leaves a large number of nieces, nephews and dear friends who visited him daily at the beach for a morning chat.
He was predeceased by his parents, Stanley Lavers and Alma (Breton), Stanley's second wife, Clara Lavers, his brother Joseph (Dorothy) Lavers, sister Laura O'Keefe, her first husband, Ben Cornick, her second husband, George O'Keefe and sister Veronica Lavers, who died at the age of 2.
Upon Gerald's wishes, cremation has taken place. Gerald loved his store at the beach and he spent his days there sitting by the fire for countless years. A family gathering will take place there at a later date.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the Staff at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre for their care while Dad had a short stay there before returning home. To the ambulance drivers who cared so gently for Dad while transporting him to and from the hospital, and to Lynette House " the little girl " who cared for him at home during her visits.
