Obituary of Hannah Evelyn Clarke

Hannah Evelyn Clarke

(nee Payne)

September 15, 1927 – November 7, 2022

It is with such sadness that we share that our dear Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Hannah Payne Clarke passed away on Monday, November 7 at the age of 95.

Leaving to mourn her loss are her children Roger (Veda), Colleen, and David (Bonnie), her grandchildren Roger, Debbi, Patti, Dana, Tara, Erin, Kelley and Austin and great-grandchildren Maya, Will, James, Nash, Tavlynn, Tessa, Piper, Brooklynn, Jocelynn, Maxwell, and Charlize.  Hannah was pre-deceased by her loving husband, Eugene Clarke, her parents Dinah & Samuel Payne, and brothers Eli, Willy, Johnny, Joey. Her family would like to acknowledge her special relationship to the Park family, and her many nieces and nephews.

As we say goodbye we will always remember her contagious laugh, her fierce independence and strength (she was a woman ahead of her time) and her love and dedication to her family.  We will forever picture her doing what she loved, her daily walk through Cox’s Cove with her head held high, maintaining her cherished gardens and watching the boats on the ocean.  We will miss you always.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Donna for the love and care she showed Hannah.  At a time when her family couldn’t be there, you being there was truly appreciated.

A private funeral will take place over the coming days for immediate family, after which Hannah will be laid to rest beside Eugene at Mount Patricia Cemetery.

As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
