Obituary of Agatha Poole

It is with great sadness that the family of Agatha Poole (nee Joyce) announce her passing on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2022. She passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 77 years.

Agatha will be deeply missed by her children: Kelly, Norman (Sherry), Sarah (Shannon); and her grandchildren: Nathan, Andrew, Katherine, N.J., Gracie, Joshua, and Jonah. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law: Max, Peggy, Allan (Shirley), Sarah (Jack), Loretta (Gerard), and Kelvin; her brother Jack (Clara); and her longtime friend Barb. A loving circle of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends will be saddened by her passing as well. All who knew Agatha will hold her forever in their hearts.

Agatha is predeceased by her loving husband, Norm, of 54 years, who passed away earlier this year on August 20th. It brings us great peace to know they are together again looking after us.

She is also predeceased by her parents: George and Sarah (nee Gregory) Joyce; her siblings: George, Grace, Fletch, and Mary; and siblings-in-law: Vera (Bernard) and Abigail.

Agatha was a woman of faith and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Parish Church, and she was active in the Catholic Women’s League throughout her life. Agatha and her late sister, Mary, regularly enjoyed getting together for an exciting game of Bingo. Together with a beloved group of close-knit friends, they started a card club that met weekly for decades to socialize and play their favorite game. Her whole life, Agatha was always the life of the party and enjoyed hosting bridal and baby showers for various family members over the years.

Kelly, Norman, and Sarah would like to thank the staff at Lane’s Retirement Living and Western Memorial Regional Hospital. They are very appreciative of Max, Rose and Bruce, Veronica, Tammy and Blaine, Suzanne and Jimmy, and other family and friends for everything they have done for our family this past year.

There will be a visitation held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from the hours of 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street. A funeral service will be held in her honor on Monday, November 28, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Parish Church, 469 Curling Street with Father Jim Robertson officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia cemetery.
