Obituary of Guy Wayne Hann
Guy Hann
December 17, 1953 - November 19, 2022
Burgeo, NL
Leaving to mourn with broken hearts but plenty of happy memories: devoted wife of nearly 47 years Marg, son Jeff (Kylee), daughter Jennifer (Brock) and the lights of his life, granddaughters (“Pop’s Angels”) Carley and Avery, brothers Jack (Beatrice), Frank (Lily), Ross (Linda), Rex (Claudine), Glen (Laura) all at Burgeo, Eric (Dianne) at Truro, Nova Scotia and sisters Annie (Clayton) and Nancy (Max) at Burgeo, brother in law Daniel (Florence) at Avondale, NL, as well as special nephew Roger Hann (Una) at Burgeo and special cousin Aubrey Greene (Bernice) at Francois, NL. He will also be missed by a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Predeceased by parents Garland and Catherine (Kitty) Hann, and brothers Lloyd, Billy, Douglas and Budd, sister in law Alice, parents in law Daniel and Mary Costello, and special buddy Wade Foote, who was always like a son to him.
Guy was the type of man who was always looking for a good “yarn” wherever he went; gathering on the wharf with his buddies or talking on the phone for hours were some of his favourite pastimes. He was talkative, soft hearted, helpful, stubborn and a real charmer. He was truly one of a kind; proud of his Hunt’s Island roots and content and comfortable with his life in Burgeo. His camper at Peter Strides was his happy place since 1991. From May until September, especially since retirement, you could count on finding him and Marg on Route 480. He had a tremendously large circle of friends since a young age, but was always looking to add to his social circle. If you were a stranger when you met him, you made a lifelong friend when you left, and you can bet he had your phone number to keep in touch. He loved yard sales (and in turn, collecting junk!) telling stories, big naps, family gatherings and making “Pop’s Angels” squeal with laughter. He was an active member of various organizations in Burgeo, and known to everyone in our little community. His large presence and personality will certainly be missed here.
Guy unfortunately developed diabetes at the young age of 4. Despite all his obstacles, he most certainly made a wonderful life for himself and his family. His family and friends were always such a valuable part of his life, and if you meant a lot to him, he made sure you knew it. He always realized how fortunate he was to have met his devoted wife, who kept his health in check, and he spoke of his appreciation for her often. He was also very thankful to have both of his children living in town, and having the opportunity to watch his granddaughters grow.
Visitation will take place at St. John the Evangelist Church at Burgeo on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Celebration of Life will be held at the same on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 2pm with Rev. Elsie Rose officiating.
No flowers by request, please.
