Coleen Ruth Dingwell-Corbin

October 28, 1955 – December 30, 2022

Coleen passed peacefully in her sleep last Friday at the age of 67 after a short illness at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. She had been in relatively poor health since heart surgery two years ago, but in her short two year stay at Westmount Estates she had forged close relationships with residents and staff, and will be dearly missed there.

Survived by her son Damian French and his partner Megan McCarthy (Halifax, NS), as well as siblings Dort (Dave Walsh, Corner Brook), Kenny, Larry, Holly, Kim and Nick Pretty (Carol, Torbay), as well as many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her youngest son Jonathan French, siblings Shelly and Barry, and her mother Josephine Pretty.

Coleen was an animal lover and had a strong sense of social justice, which she instilled in her children. This led her to her post-secondary studies in Sociology and Women's Studies at MUN, and on to a short career as Executive Director of the Women's Centre in St. John's, as well involvement in local politics for several years.

Visitation will occur at Fillatres Funeral Home, 4 St Mark's Avenue on Friday, January 6 from 7-9 PM. Those who knew Coleen or had their lives touched by her are welcome to attend. Donations can be made in her honour to https://cmhanl.ca/web/donate/ no flowers please.

The family would especially like to thank the staffs of Westmount Estates and WMRH for their support and care over the last few years.
