Daniel Joseph Bennett

Stephenville Crossing, NL

May 14, 1943 – Jan. 13, 2023

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that our family announce the passing of Daniel Joseph Bennett  on Friday, January 13, 2023 at The Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL  at the age of 79 years.

Left to mourn is his wife of 55 years, Doreen (Hurdle); son Darrell (Coreen) of Paradise, NL;  daughter Danette (Anton) of Abbotsford, B.C.;  grandchildren:  D’Arcy, Keara, Kaelan, Erica, Connor; great-grandson:  Jaxon; 4 brothers:  Freeman (Tellie) in Port aux Basques, Leonard (Petra) in Mississauga, ON, Abe (Pam) in Kippens, Eugene (Janet) in Saskatoon and 2 sisters:  Tavis (Stanley) Bennett of Stephenville Crossing and Cindy (Dan) Hollis of Tobermory, ON. 

He was pre-deceased by his parents:  Oma and Norah Bennett, parents-in-law:  Art and Stella Hurdle, his sister Audrey Tyree and his brother Fred Bennett.

Danny was a soft spoken quiet man but very witty which could often be heard in his one line replies.  He was a great husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Danny was well known for his cooking & baking, especially his apple pies and meat pies.  His presence will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all those who knew him.

We want to thank the nurses and staff of Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital medical and palliative care units.  Special thanks to his caring, compassionate physician, Dr. Sheila Dwyer.,

Visitation will take place on Sunday, January 15,  2023 between the hours of 2 - 4 & 7 – 9 p.m from Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.  

The funeral service will take place on Monday, January 16, 2023 at 10 a.m. from Assumption Parish with Father Edmund Dantes officiating.  Interment will take place following the service in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Brook Street, Stephenville Crossing, NL.

As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation. 

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.
