Obituary of Gerald William Mitchell

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Gerald William Mitchell announce his passing on January 19^th, 2023 at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 86.

Leaving to mourn with many fond and loving memories are many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents: Albert and Lillian (Andersen) Mitchell, brothers: David, Wilson, Edward (“Uncle Sweet”), Robert, and sister: Bertha (Betty).

Uncle Gerald had such a love for music and art. His work in these fields is recognized nation-wide. He was known especially as “The Labrador Balladeer.” He also enjoyed family meals and get-togethers. Gerald was a quiet, smart man who enjoyed reading as well.

The funeral service will be held on January 23^rd, 2023 at 2:00pm from the Moravian Church, Makkovik, with Liz Evans-Mitchell officiating. Interment to follow in the Moravian Cemetary, Makkovik.

Special thanks extended to the staff at the Labrador Health Centre, Curtis Memorial Hospital, and the Harbourview Manor for their special care of Uncle Gerald in his final days.

Rest in Peace, Uncle Gerald. May the angels lead you in.
