The family of the late Edward Calvin Andrews would like to express our deepest appreciation for the support of our family and friends during our time of bereavement. We appreciated all of the cards, phone calls, donations, flowers and food. Our thanks to Dominion who have gone above and beyond in providing food to our family in this difficult time.

Thank you to all who visited the funeral home and attended the funeral. Our sincerest thank you to Reverend Canon Tanya White for the beautiful service, which was so uplifting. A special thank you to Mindy Holloway for her assistance and Fillatre’s for their professionalism and compassion.

We wish to thank all of the people who cared endlessly for Edward along his medical journey. Special gratitude to Dr. Amanda Park, Dr. Chris Healey and the staff of the WMH Cancer Clinic and to Dr. Steward Rourke, Medical Oncologist and Dr. Oliver Holmes, Radiation Oncologist of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre. Thank you to Dr. Farzaneh and staff of WMH – 3B and to Dr. Mostafa Hanout of the Apex Eye Surgical Centre and Jessica Reid Wound Care Clinic.

We especially thank Community Health Nurse, Coady LaFosse and the team of nurses of Community Health for their compassionate care during Edward’s illness. Also special thanks to Rhonda Watkins and the nurses of the WMH Palliative Care Unit, you are truly “Angels” among us, thank you for your care, compassion and support during Edward’s time in the Palliative Care Unit.

No words can ever express our sincere thanks for providing so much support to our family in this time of sorrow.

Your kindness will be forever remembered.

March 31, 1949 – January 30, 2023

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the families of Edward Calvin Andrews announce his passing on Monday, January 30, 2023 at the Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook at the age of 73 years.

Edward was predeceased by his parents Alva and Albert Andrews, brother Lewis, mother and father-in-law Rosanna and Lewis Cull, brothers-in-law Stephen and Eugene Cull.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife Kathleen (Cull) of 53 years; daughters: Kimberly (Keith), Lorie (Phil), Tonya (Jerry) , Lana (Joe) and son Shane (Christine); grandchildren: Ashley, Robin (Scott), Brittany, Brooke (Ashley), Brody, Angel (Nathan), Jordan, Lucas, Shallon (Corey) and Shauna; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Caleb, Owen, Liam, Isaac, Chase, Brycen, Riley, Clair, Toby and Brian; brother John; sisters-in-law Susie and Ruth, Dorothy McCarthy (Glen), Doreen Polay (Grant), Ethel Nippard (Malcolm), Bernice Stuckless and Cora Klironomos (George), brothers-in-law Roy Cull (Linda) and Bond Cull (Judy); also left to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Ed was happiest when he was out in nature. He loved moose hunting and fishing and especially loved his boil ups when he was in the country. Ed also loved antique cars. He was a lover of music, playing his guitar and sing the songs of his favourite artist Merle Haggard. Most importantly he loved his family and grandchildren dearly.

Special thanks to Dr. Farzaneh, all nursing staff on 3B and nursing staff in the palliative care unit.

The family will be receiving family and friends at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday from the hours of 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 3 at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Rev. Canon Tanya White officiating. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
