Obituary of Joyce Lowes Corbin

Joyce Lowes Corbin (née Fraser) of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, formerly of North Berwick, Scotland, and Portsmouth and Denmead, England, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2023, at 97 years young surrounded by her loving family. 

Grandma, Gigi, or Glamma, as she was affectionately known, was born in South Shields, England, on May 7, 1925, to Mary Eleanor (Ella) and Albert Fraser. She will be remembered for her many adventures, warm spirit, joyous way of living, and gifts of unconditional love. She was preceded in death by her brother Noel Lyndsay, her son Martyn, her ex-husband Richard Kenneth (Ken) Parker (father of daughter Merrill), and ex-husband Kingsley Edwin John (Jack) Corbin (father of sons Martyn and Brian). 

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter Merrill and her husband Ian; son Brian and his wife Joanne; Merrill’s children Ella (husband Craig and children Taryn and Taylor), Iona (children Amélie and Aila), Kate, and Isla (child Lennox); Martyn’s child Candace (husband Alex and children Ioannis and Paulina); and Brian’s children Kirsten and Kayla.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 pm with a service and reception to follow from 7:00-9:00 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Goose Bay, Labrador. Fillatre’s is entrusted with arrangements.
