CARD OF THANKS

The family of the late Alice Muriel Goodyear would like to express sincere appreciation to all family, friends and neighbours who helped ease the sorrow felt by the recent loss of a much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

We gratefully acknowledge all cards, phone calls, messages, donations, food and visits to the house and funeral home. A special thank you to the staff of the Long Term Care home for the honor guard, which was very touching. Thank you also to pallbearers, Fillatre’s Funeral Home and a very special thank you to Mindy Holloway for her professionalism and compassion.

A very special thank-you to Rev. Jocelyn Cook for support and the beautiful funeral service.

Your kindness will always be remembered.

Alice Muriel Goodyear (nee Goobie)

September 13, 1919 – February 16, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Alice Goodyear announce her passing at the age of 103 on February 16^th, 2023 at Corner Brook Long Term Care.

Leaving to mourn her two sons Alex in Cloverdale, BC; Ellis (Audrey) in Summerland, BC; and daughter Sylvia Osmond (companion Ron Taylor) in Corner Brook.

Also leaving to mourn 6 grandchildren Debbie (Dave) Smyth in Airdrie, AB; Alisa (Geoffrey) Askew in Sydney, Australia; Alex Jr. (Shana) Goodyear, Coverdale, BC; Bret (Allison) Goodyear Caronport, SK; Glenn (Janet) Osmond in Eastern Passage, NS; Lori Osmond in Cloverdale, BC.; 5 great grandchildren, Adam, Ashlyn, Thomas, Makayla and D.J. and 4 great-great grandchildren. Also leaving to mourn many nieces and nephews and special friends Freda Moores, Daphne Bartlett and Kim Whiteway.

Alice was predeceased by her husband Wilson in 1989, her parents Abraham and Annie Goobie; parents in-law Alexander and Evangeline Goodyear; siblings Mable (Dorman) Harris, Beatrice (Sam) Cholerton, Eldred (Kay) Goobie, Flora (Phil) Thurston, Edna (Bill) Norris, Roland (Jean) Goobie, Eliza (Gordon) Hussey, Wes (Priscilla) Goobie and Sister-in-law Olga (George) Hutchings.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the Interfaith Home and the Long Term Care Home for the love and kindness shown to their loved one over the years.

In lieu of flowers donations in Alice’s memory can be made to the SPCA or the charity of your choosing.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook on Monday, February 20^th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Service to follow at the Chapel   at Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jocelyn Cook officiating. Interment to follow at the United Church Section of the Interdenominational Cemetery on Wight’s Road in Deer Lake.
