Obituary of Jerry Hynes
Please share a memory of Jerry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Jerry Hynes announce his passing on February 17th, 2023 at the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Long Term Care facility at the age of 59.
Jerry was born in Botwood, Newfoundland and Labrador, on September 25th, 1963. He attended the St. John’s School for the Deaf starting at age 5. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and loved to be in the woods whether it was picking berries with family, snaring rabbits, or a little hunting for partridge. He was a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs and was quick to defend his team to anyone (mostly his brothers). He was known as a practical joker, with his mother and family taking the brunt of many of his torments all in good fun. A couple of Jerry’s pass-times were playing card games such as crib, Uno, and bingo, as well as sketching which he was quite good at. He will be truly missed. May he rest in peace.
Jerry leaves behind his brothers: Pearce, Victor (Debra), Paul, Roy (Denise), Roger (Sori), Gary (Catherine), sisters: Emma, Lillian (Wayne), Ivina, Judy, Sedalla (Mitch), Jane (Ross), Cathy (Derek), and sister-in-law Flora Burry, as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents: Calvin and Florence, brothers: William Burry and Allister, and sister: Isabelle.
Special thanks to the professional staff of the Long Term Care facility and the emergency unit at the Labrador Grenfell Health Center, Happy Valley-Goose Bay, who have gone above and beyond for Jerry’s care. Your compassion and loyalty to your profession did not go unnoticed.
There will be no formal services at this time. To be announced at a later date.
