Monsignor James Patrick Robertson

January 19, 1962 – February 19, 2023

Corner Brook, NL

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Monsignor James Patrick Robertson announce his passing on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 61 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his sisters and brothers: Pat (Ron) Peckford, Ted (Bonnie), Joan (Clarence) Spencer, Bill, Dan (Mary), Dave, Ruth (Loyola) Galliott, Wayne (Bev), Terry, Maureen, Diane (Gary) Stewart, Bob, Gregg (Daphne), Dale (Joy) and Christina; sister-in-law Wanda; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many parishioners in the parishes of Curling, Lourdes, Stephenville, Deer Lake, Port au Choix, St. Anthony, Benoit's Cove and Conche. He was predeceased by his parents Albert and Martha (nee Pennell), sister Marg Jacobs and brother Paul.

Father Jim was happiest when he was serving his parishioners, when he wasn’t serving his parish his second love was his large family and cabin in Howley. He enjoyed his many trips there fishing, conversations around the campfire and of course a good hand of cards. He thoroughly enjoyed his many trips sightseeing our beautiful Province.  Father Jim was a wealth of information, he was well-versed in genealogy and loved getting to know everyone that he had the pleasure of meeting. His ability to remember everyone’s name and the history of their families was just simply amazing.

Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Wednesday, February 22 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. and will continue on Thursday, February 23 from the Cathedral of the Most Holy Redeemer, Mount Bernard Avenue 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 8:00 p.m.  from where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, February 24 at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Bart van Roijen officiating.
