It is with great sadness that the family of the late Kevin Joseph McCarthy of Corner Brook announce his passing surrounded by his family on March 1, 2023, at the age of 85 years.

He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: His wife of 61 years, Eva (Hayes) McCarthy; his Children: Kevin (Jo-Anne), Kathleen (Grant Payne), Sean (Anna-Marie); Son-in-law: Rodney Stratton; Grandchildren: Michael (Stephanie) Stratton, Sarah Stratton (Nick Brine), David (Ashley) McCarthy, Kurt Payne (Sara Larsen), Kyle Payne (Stephanie Corner), Daniel McCarthy (Caitlin Davis), Liam McCarthy (Chantelle MacBurnie) and Emma McCarthy; Great-grandchildren: Layla and Tegan Stratton; Brother-in-law: Joe Hayes. Along with a large circle of family and friends.

He was predeceased by his Daughter: Mary Ellen Stratton; his Parents: George William and Mary McCarthy; Siblings: Gerald (Angela), Charles (Onie), George (Catherine), Kathleen (William Fitzgerald), and Jerry (Marie); In-laws: Joseph and Nellie Hayes; Sister-in-laws: Helen Gallant, Betty (John Alden), Bernice (Aaron Gallant).

Kevin was a proud member of the Canadian National Railway for 35 years, before retiring to spend time with his family and grandchildren at Pinchgut Lake.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and visitation will occur at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Friday, March 3^rd at 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 7:00-9:00 p.m. A funeral mass to celebrate Kevin’s life will be held at The Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral on Saturday, March 4^th, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. with Father Edward Terry officiating.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to The Cathedral of The Most Holy Redeemer in Kevin’s memory. No flowers by request.

The McCarthy family would like to express their utmost gratitude to the staff of The Palliative Care Unit at The Western Long-Term Care Center, in Corner Brook, and his family physician, Dr. Melissa O’Brien.
