Mary Hannah Muise

St. George’s, NL

September 17, 1934 – February 18, 2023

Mary Hannah Muise, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at the Taber Community Health Centre, Taber, Alberta after a brief illness.

Mary was born on September 17th, 1934, at Terrenceville, Newfoundland to Michael and Ellen (Mitchell) McCarthy.  She married George Augustus (Gus) Muise on January 9, 1954, in St. George’s.  As a couple, Mary and Gus raised a family and became very well known and successful entrepreneurs as owner operators of many well-known businesses that included, but were not limited to, Steel Mountain Lodge, the White House, restaurants, pool halls and a hunting lodge.

After the death of her son Bobby in August 2016 and her husband Gus in March, 2018, Mary moved to Alberta to be closer to family.  Left to cherish her loving memory are her children, grand and great grand-children, her sister and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends and acquaintances.

Her wish was to be interred with her loving husband and son.  Respecting her wishes will result in her being returned to the province she loved and missed, to be closer to those who predeceased her (her parents, her brothers and sisters, and her husband Gus and son Bobby).

A memorial service will be held on June 17th, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in St. George’s, NL with Fr. Edmund Dantes officiating. No burial at this time.

There will be a Celebration of Life in the St. Joseph's Parish Hall following the Church service.  All are welcome.
