Roy LaFosse

WestMount Estates

June 4, 1941 – March 13,2023

It is with great sadness, a lifetime of memories and much gratefulness for a life well lived that the family of Roy LaFosse announce his passing at the Palliative Care Unit at the age of 81.

Roy had many joys in his life starting with Violet, the love of his life, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage this past Valentine’s Day. His other loves included the water whether at sea working, in a boat or with a fishing rod in his hand. When at home, he loved spending time chatting with his family and friends, having a good game of cards or singing and playing his accordion. Many times by himself or with a tag along friend you would find him in the country filling his bucket with hands full of berries. He was a very creative man all of his life and in his later years you often found him in his craft room making his famous boats.

With his family at his side and surrounded with love, he slipped peacefully away. Lovingly remembered by his wife and by his children: Jim (Christine), Nova Scotia; Lee (Sonia Barter), Burgeo; Cindy Sheppard (Myles), Nova Scotia; Beverly Farrell (Danny), Tompkins; Coady (Nicole), Corner Brook; grandchildren and {great grandchildren}: Christopher (Jeanette) LaFosse, David LaFosse {Madison}, Jake Sheppard, Jessie Farrell, Charlie Farrell, Nicholas & Benjamin LaFosse; step grandchildren: Damien (Valerie) Barter; Stephanie (Corey) Benoit; brothers: Philip (Rosemary) Durnford; Jack Durnford; Alexander Durnford; brothers in law: Riley Durnford; George (Doris) Fudge; Ronald (Linda) Fudge; sister: Sadie Macalen; sisters in law: Eileen Durnford; Rose (Henry) Young; Bernice (Aubrey) Greene; many other cherished family members and friends, including friends and staff from WestMount Estates where he resided.

Predeceased by father James William LaFosse; mother Bertha Durnford; step father John Philip Durnford; mother and father in law: Jessie and Ronald Fudge; sister Evelyn Durnford; brother Eric Durnford; daughter in law Sherry LaFosse.

The family would like to thank all the management and staff at WestMount Estates for providing a wonderful home for the past 3 years. The compassion and care during his time there has never gone unnoticed and will be appreciated more than you will ever know. Also the Community Support nurses for care provided during his illness , as well as 3A at Western Memorial Hospital and Palliative Care during his final days. We will be forever grateful.
