Obituary of William Fry

It is with great sadness that the family of the late William (Bill) Fry announce his passing on April 3, 2023 at the age of 87 years old, at the Long Term Care Facility in Happy Valley Goose Bay, NL.
He is predeceased by his first wife, Loretta (d. 2001); his parents William and Eliza Fry; brothers James (Jessie) and Eric Fry; sister Olga (Eric) Rodway; and brother-in-law Gerald French.
Bill is survived by his second wife of 18 years, Margaret; his children, Perry (June) Fry and Yvette (Tim) Sheppard; and grandchildren, Noelle (Kris), Jenna (Justin), Christian (Hilary) , Megan (Jeremy) and Lindsay (Evan); and his step-children Joan (Bruce) Webber; Judy Wall; Gerard (Rona) Wall; and Patsy (Mincie) White; and Bob Wall. He is also survived by his sister, Eliza French, his brother, Joseph (Philomena) Fry, and his sister-in-law, Florence Fry.
Bill was born on September 10, 1935, in Brigus, NL to William and Eliza Fry. He relocated to Goose Bay in 1958 to work at the American Air Force base where he initially worked at the mess hall and subsequently transferred to the Department of National Defence as a painter. He was employed in Goose Bay up to 1990 when he relocated back to Newfoundland and built a home in North River. He and his first wife, Loretta, moved back to Goose Bay to be closer to family in later years. Bill subsequently met and married Margaret in 2005.
He enjoyed gardening; storytelling, particularly tales of growing up in Brigus and of playing hockey; trouting; playing darts and card-games, especially with Margaret in recent years.
The funeral service will be held on April 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with interment to follow at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of the John M. Gray Centre in St. Anthony & the Happy Valley-Goose Bay Long Term Care facility for taking care of Bill in his time of need.
He will always be dearly loved and missed by all of us.
