Passed peacefully at the Bay St. George Long Term Care Center in Stephenville Crossing on Monday, February 26, 2018 at the age of 83. Hughie leaves to mourn his wife of 60 years, Catherine (Kay); his children; Eleanor (Gordon), Yvonne (Lucas), Shirley (Brian), James (Ruby); 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren: brothers: Cecil (Vernice), Theo; sister Emma as well as a large circle of extended family and friends. Hughie was predeceased by his parents Martha and Daniel Alley; brothers: Bernard, Byron; sisters: Olive, Mabel and grandson William. The family would like to thank the staff of the Bay St. George Long Term Care Centre for the care and comfort they offered during his stay. Visitation will take place at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, St. David’s, NL on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. from where the funeral service will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2018, 11 a.m. with Reverand Kris Gosse officiating. Interment in the Anglican Cemetery St. David’s, NL will take place following the service. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of ones’ choice.
