It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, Harrison Gibbons on April 29, 2023 at the age of 84 years.
Harrison was born on December 29, 1938 on Current Island to the parents of Mary Jane and Norman.
They lived on the Island for many years and Harrison began his teaching career there straight out of
school. In 1969 the family relocated to Pigeon Cove where he and his wife, Juanita, raised their children,
and Harrison continued his career as an educator until his retirement at the age of 55. He had a love for
the outdoors, fishing on the river and spending time at the cabin. He loved animals and especially his
favorite fury friend Shadow. But the most important thing was his family, he was always there to
support his children and grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Leaving to mourn is his wife of 57 years Juanita Gibbons; children, Faye (Ed), Tony (Jody), and Joanne
(Kevin); Grandchildren, Katie, Karli, Ryan and Ben; his siblings Annie, George (Ivy), Noel (Sophie), Doreen
(Colin), Emeline (Whyman), Barb (Nathaniel), Linda (Gary), and Mildred (Howard), and many nieces and
nephews.

Predeceased by his parents, Mary Jane and Norman Gibbons; brother-in-law, Martin Gibbons; niece,
Eileen Gibbons and nephew, Rick Gibbons.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre and also to
the staff at Lanes Retirement Home in Port Saunders.

Family Service to take place on Tuesday, May 2 at 7pm at St. Mary’s Anglican Church. The funeral will be
on Wednesday May 3 at 2pm at the same location with the burial to take place at the cemetery in Black
Duck Cove.  The Rev. Canon Terrance Coates Officiating.
