David Russell Cutler
1945 - 2023
St.George's, NL
May 29, 1945 - May 2, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of the late David Russell Cutler announce his passing on Tuesday May 2, 2023 in his 78th year at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville, NL
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his children, Taralea and Travis (Zoe). Grandchildren, Mia and Leo who meant the world to him. Brother: Kerry; Sisters; Anita Hinks, Sharon Korstad (Merrill). Mother of his children Linda Cutler. The woman he adored Eileen Young, along with her children and grandchildren. David also leaves behind a large circle of family and friends, nieces and nephews, and cousin Garry Major who was like a brother to him.
He was predeceased by his parents Fred Cutler and Lydia Cutler (nee Butt), sisters Betty Cutler, Grace Wagner, brother Thomas Cutler, sisters-in-law: Florence Cutler and Marion Cutler , brothers-in-law: Larry Wagner and Clayton Hinks.
Throughout the last months of David's decline in health, he put up a brave fight with humour and never a complaint. David always loved music, and was known for getting people on the dancefloor during his DJ days; over the last few years he was often the happiest listening to traditional Newfoundland and country music. David loved to putter around the house and could be found fixing up a car, the house or tending to his garden and raspberry bushes. David also loved sports, and was a knowledgeable Blue Jays fan. In the next life, we hope he's enjoying a round of darts with his best friends Clayton and Larry.
A special thank you to David's niece Cindy Delaney for her exceptional support, care and efforts over the last 13 months, also to the nurses and hospital staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their compassionate care during David's unfortunate yet lengthy hospital stay and to Dr Sheila Dwyer for her guidance and care during David's stay and up until his final days.
At David's request a cremation has taken place; and the family will bury him in the Cutler family graveyard in St. George's, NL. There will be no funeral service at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, Stephenville, NL. The family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time.
