Obituary of Thomas Joseph Moulton
Thomas Joseph Moulton
January 8, 1928 – May 3, 2023
Corner Brook, NL.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Thomas Joseph Moulton announce his passing on Wednesday May 3, 2023 at the Palliative Care Unit of the Western Long Term Care Home at the age of 95 years old. Left to mourn with many wonderful memories are: daughter, Patricia, son, Tim (Sherry), grandchildren Elizabeth (Alex) and Michael (Sarah), great-grandchild Ezra, sister Betty (Ian) Harper, brothers-in-law Eldon Drost, and Ted Bungay, sister-in-law Jesse Bungay, many nieces and nephews, special companion Hazel Chafe and family, as well as loving friends. He was predeceased by his wife, Wilhelmenia, parents, Percy and Nellie, sister Beatrice Drost, and brother Curt (Myrna).
Tom was married to the love of his life Willie for 61 years. Together they enjoyed spending summers with their children at their cabin in Southeast Arm, and later at their cabin at Boom Siding with their grandchildren. Tom and Willie loved to spend winter months in the Florida sunshine with close friends while watching Toronto Blue Jays spring training and keeping a close eye on his beloved Maple Leafs. After Willie’s passing in 2015, Tom and Hazel met and became good friends. Together they both enjoyed participating in many local seniors activities.
Tom was a very active member of numerous community organizations and groups including the Westmount Club, the Blomidon Golf and Curling Club, the Corner Brook Curling Club, the Echo Club, as well as being a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was no stranger to the dance floor and could be found many a weekend cutting a rug. Tom loved sports and recreational activities, anything that could be an excuse to get out and socialize. He played golf, was a member of local darts and bowling leagues, but excelled most at curling, representing Team Newfoundland in the 1961 Brier in Calgary, Alberta. He also loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting and fishing.
Tom’s charming demeanor and silly sense of humour endeared him to many. He had a playful familiarity with everyone he met and was a true gentleman. The large circle of friends that surrounded him throughout his long life is a testament to the wonderful man he was. He will be forever loved and missed.
The family would like to offer sincere appreciation and many thanks to the wonderful staff at the Western Health Palliative Care Centre who took such great care and provided comfort to Thomas and his family and friends in his final days.
In keeping with Thomas’ wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 30th, 2023, from the hours of 2 pm to 4 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, Corner Brook, NL. The funeral service will take place at First United Church, 19 Park Street, at 2 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023.
His family has asked that in lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy can be made in the form of donations to the Western Regional Memorial Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice. To sign the family guestbook, you may visit our website at www.fillatre.ca
The family would like to thank everyone for their support at this very difficult time.
