Obituary of Patrick George Hynes

Patrick George Hynes

April 24, 1945 - May 16, 2023

Halfway Point, NL 

It is with profound sorrow and sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Patrick George Hynes on May 16th, 2023 at the age of 78. 

Pat left to mourn his wife of 56 years Shirley (nee Snooks), his 3 children, daughter Sheila (Joseph Yakli), son Larry (Tracy/"Trixie" Porter), daughter Linda (Chris Hull). 

Also 4 grandchildren who he adored in every way, Brandon Hynes (Martina), Tiffany Hynes (Travis Meaney) Bradey Rice and Brianna Rice, and his one and only great grandchild, Addison Hynes, He also leaves a large circle of friends and extended family. 

Pat was an amazing fiddle player who loved to play at home or in front of an audience. He shared his talents throughout the province for many years with the Friends of Rufus band, dedicating his time and talent to helping others out. He composed some of his own jigs/reels, as well as releasing 3 of his own CD's with just a few of his many musical friends. 

Music was his passion and anyone who knew him, knew how much he idolized the "Possum" George Jones..

Pat was a proud friend of Bill W, had 38 years of sobriety and was always there to help or sponsor a fellow member. 

Pat was the oldest of a large family to Gerald and Jessie (nee Park) Hynes who are both predeceased. He leaves behind his siblings Ralph, Derrick (Kathleen), Mary (Tom Boland), Maxine , Maureen (Ed Lewis), Jim (Barb), Shirley (Ray Gardiner). Predeceased by his brothers Bill and Dave and his sister Rose.

Pat also leaves behind his wife's family, Myrtle (Jerry Pike), Irene (Don Shapcott), Ruby (Paul Fitzgerald),  Susan (Boyde Rowsell), Raymond (Sharon), Ruben (Jackie), Rick (Cyndi). Predeceased by parents in law, Thomas and Susan, and bothers in law Hayward, Guy and Austin Snooks. 

At Pat's request, cremation has taken place with service to follow later.
