February 27, 1928 – May 25, 2023

A life well lived.

  It is with great sadness that the family of the late Nellie Louise Brake (nee Colbourne) announce her passing on 25 May, 2023, at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility at the age of 95 years.  She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories, her daughters Cyndie (Raymond) Humber, Elizabeth Brake, Janet Brake, Maxine Brake, her son Rick (Louise) Brake, her grandchildren Penny, Mark, Allan, Melissa, James, Andrew, and Fiona, and great grandchildren Alexandra, Maddy, Chaytor, Lincoln and Teagan.

She was predeceased by her husband Fred Brake; parents Elizabeth and Allen Colbourne.

Visitations will be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 27 and 28 at 7 – 9 pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Home at 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook.

A Memorial Service will be held on May 29, Monday, at 2:00pm at Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook.  Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery.  By request, no donations.

There will be a reception from 3:30 – 4:45 pm at the Elks Club, 9 Carmen Avenue, Corner Brook following interment.  All are welcome to attend and reconnect with friends and families.

Some family members allergic to pork and all pork products, oranges, peanuts, and shellfish.  Items containing these ingredients should not be brought into gatherings.

When I come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me,

I want no rites in a gloom filled room.  Why cry for a soul set free?

Miss me a while, but no too long, and not with your head held low.

Remember the love we once shared.  Miss me but let me go.

This is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone.

It’s all a part of the Master’s plan.  A step in the road to home.
