George Joseph Caines
December 24, 1931 - June 12, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of George Caines announce his peaceful passing surrounded by family members at the Corner Brook Palliative Care Unit on June 12 at the age of 91. With fond and loving memories, he leaves to mourn his children: Diane Hedd (Lawrence), Jerry (Danielle), Annette Veno (Duane), Pat (Darlene), and daughter-in-law Valda Caines; grandchildren: Jennifer (Craig), Suzanne (Mike), Michelle (John), Ashlee (Collin), Cory (Rebeka), Megan (Ryan), Haley, Victoria (Blair); great-grandchildren: Jack, Max, Luke, Hayden, Rya, Atlas, River, Carter, and Ellie; brothers: Walter (Helen), Ralph (Kathleen); sisters: Ann Prosser (Tom), Genevieve Lang (Eric); brothers-in-law Leo Kirby and George Dumont; sister-in-law and special friend Yvonne Walsh and sister-in-law Mima Walsh, as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Bess), son William (Bill), mother Blanche, father Fred, brothers Gus (Alice), Fred (Madonna), and Arthur; sisters Minnie Roache (Francis), Nioma Seymour, Catherine Dumont, and Loretta Kirby. The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the exceptional care and support provided, as well as kindness shown, by the truly wonderful staff at the Western Health Palliative Care Unit. We would also like to thank Yvonne, Ralph and Kathleen, Kevin and Marie for all their support and love, especially in the past few weeks. Also thank you to all the other family and friends who visited Dad and chatted about old times.
There will be a funeral service for George on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Parish, Pasadena with Father Anthony officiating. Interment to follow at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Church Road, Pasadena.
