Obituary of James Anthony Gillis (CARD OF THANKS)

The family of the late James Anthony Gillis would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who provided support and comfort in the passing of our brother Jim.

We want to thank all those who donated food , the phone calls and prayers and those who made donations to the Heart & Lung Foundation.

We would also like to thank the staff of the ICU department of Western Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion you showed Jim in his last days, you will always be appreciated ,especially Cynthia.

Thank you to Father Ed Terry , Priscilla Butcher and Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Corner Brook for their Kindness and Professionalism during this difficult time.

It is with great sadness that the family of the late James Anthony Gillis (Jim) announce his passing on June 18^th, 2023 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 76 years, with his loving family by his side.

Left to mourn with fond and loving memories are his brothers: Calvin (Isabel) and Ted; sister Margie (Rick); sisters-in-law: Margaret, Bessie, and Mary as well as many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents: Anthony and Annie Gillis; brothers: Ron, Jerry, and Dave; and sister-in-law Margaret.

Keeping with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday, June 22^nd, from the hours of 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., from where the funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Father Ed Terry officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. Memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to the Heart and Lung Association.
