Obituary of Clarence Chesley Spencer (NOTE OF THANKS)

Note of Thanks

The family of the late Clarence Chesley Spencer would like to extend a sincere thank you to all those who provided support and comfort in the passing of our husband/dad/grandfather Clarence.

We want to thank all those who sent flowers, brough food, the phone calls, the visits, the prayers and those who made donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Thanks to the Robertson, Spencer/Warford families and all friends of the family for the support shown.

We would also like to thank the staff of the 3A of Western Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion shown. Would like to say thanks to Dr. Murphy, for the support he provided to Clarence and his family.

Thank you to Major Johnson, and Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Corner Brook for their kindness and professionalism during his difficult time.

A huge thank you to Rev. John Adams and family for the beautiful tribute given to honour our beloved. Your words of kindness and love brought our family much comfort during our most difficult time.

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE ANNOUNCE THE PASSING OF CLARENCE CHESLEY SPENCER.

FEBRUARY 19, 1946 – JUNE 23, 2023

OUR BELOVED LEAVES TO MOURN HIS WIFE OF 54 YEARS JOAN (ROBERTSON): HIS CHILDREN: JANET (CHAD PARK), SANDRA (GENERESO BUTTARAZZI) AND CLARENCE JR.  HIS PRIDE AND JOY HIS GRANDCHILDREN: JOSHUA BUTTARAZZI, BRANDON PARK, SOPHIA BUTTARAZZI, DEANDRAY SPENCER AND DAVENTAY. HIS BROTHERS AND SISTERS: ALICE (GERARD RYLES), CHUCK, GAIL (MARK ATCHISON), NINA (BILL BALL), BRIDE (DAVID HOPKINS), PAT (GEORGE WALSH), WILFRED CARROLL JR. IN -LAWS: TINA ROBERTSON, DALE (JOY), GREGG (DAPHNE), BOB, DIANE (GARY STEWART), MAUREEN, TERRY, WAYNE (BEV), RUTH (LOYOLA GALLIOTT), DAVE, DAN (MARY), BILL, TED (BONNIE), PATRICIA (RON PECKFORD). SEVERAL NIECES, NEPHEWS AND COUSINS.  AS WELL AS HIS MANY FRIENDS (AND HE HAD MANY) INCLUDING HERB AND ROSALIND WARFORD COUSINS AND BEST MAN AND MAID OF HONOUR. HE IS PREDECEASED BY HIS GRANDPARENTS ANNIE AND CHESLEY WARFORD AND PARENTS BRIDE NELLIE AND WILFRED CARROLL, MOTHER AND FATHER IN-LAW ALBERT ALDOPUS AND MARTHA ROBERTSON, SISTERS HOPE (AHMET SATILMIS), JACQUELINE WARFORD, AND BROTHER ROD, HIS IN-LAWS MONSIGNOR JAMES ROBERTSON, MARGARET JACOBS, AND PAUL ROBERTSON (WANDA).  

THE WORLD HAS LOST AN AMAZING HUSBAND, DAD AND GRANDFATHER AND FRIEND.  HE HAD A LOVE FOR PEOPLE, MUSIC, AND PLAYING BILLIARDS, AND OF COURSE HIS PASSION FOR CARS.  MANY OF HIS YEARS WERE SPENT DRIVING BIG RIGS AND WHEN HE RETURNED TO NEWFOUNDLAND HE SPENT 20 YEARS AS THE CARETAKER AT THE FIRST UNITED CHURCH ON PARK STREET.  

SPECIAL THANKS TO DR. THISTLE AND DR. MURPHY AND ALL THE NURSES ON 3A.

VISITATION WILL BE HELD AT FILLATRE'S FUNERAL HOME, 4 ST. MARK's AVENUE ON SUNDAY FROM THE HOURS OF 2-4 AND 7-9 PM. THE FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, JUNE 26 AT 3:00 PM AT FILLATRE'S FUNERAL CHAPEL WITH MAJOR FRANK JOHNSON OFFICIATING. INTERMENT TO FOLLOW AT MOUNT PATRICIA CEMETERY. AS EXPRESSIONS OF SYMPATHY, FLOWERS GRACIOUSLY ACCEPTED OR DONATIONS MAY BE MADE TO THE HEART AND STROKE FOUNDATION.
