Obituary of Raymond Joseph Evoy

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Raymond Joseph Evoy announce his sudden passing on Sunday June 25, 2023, at the age of 74 years in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. 

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife, Dianne of 49 years, his children: Cory (Angela), Karen (Dion), and Wendy (Rob), his grandchildren: Jacob, Hope, Brooke, Mackenzie, and Emily.  His fur-grandbabies Magnum and Bailey. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Ann, Holly (Brendan), Gary, Jerome (Bonnie), Patrick Jr., Michael (Karen), Floyd (Marion), Betty Lou (Darren), Byron (Celeste), sisters-in-law Maxine (Dave) Ellam, Jean and Mary-Ellen, a large circle of nieces, nephews, friends, and Aunt Minnie Peddle and special Aunt Eileen Companion.  He was pre-deceased by his father, Patrick Sr., mother, Mary, brothers Eric, Thomas, and Samuel.

            Ray was a loving man who always put family first. He was a hardworking man who supported his family in more ways than one. His love of the outdoors was prominent in his everyday life. You could usually find him in at the cabin, hunting, fishing or just sitting by the fire. He was a pillar of the community, always volunteering, gardening and was always up for a good card game.  Ray loved a good chat, gave the best advice and was always ready with a witty comeback.  He loved a homecooked meal with two molasses buns and a cup of tea.

Visitation will take place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Curling, Tuesday, June 27^th at 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. The funeral will take place 2:00 p.m Wednesday, June 28^th at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Benoit’s Cove. Interment to follow at the church cemetery. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
