Obituary of Gary Cooper

Gary Reginald Cooper
April 22, 1950 – June 26, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Gary Cooper announce his peaceful passing at Western Long Term Palliative Care in Corner Brook, NL surrounded by his cherished family on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the age of 73 years.

He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Catherine; children Janice (Lynn) Hardy and Michael (Vicki) Cooper; grandchildren Peyton, Benjamin, and Kaitlynn; great grandson Vincent; brother Donald Cooper; sisters Phyllis Morris and Marilyn Cooper; as well as a large circle of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. A special mention to his dear friends, Cal Hynes and the rest of his “Tims Buddies”, Neil and Susan Smith, Mike Roach, Pauline and Mel Tessier, Loretta Wight, Ruby Dinney, Wayne Cooper, Fred and Rose Young, Bob and Linda Watkins, Terry and Glenda Tilley, Bruce and Gertie Tilley, and Amos and Ida Coates.

Gary was predeceased by his parents Ward and Harriett (nee Tucker); brother-in-law Ted Morris; and special nephew Ryan Worthen.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Gary’s sister Phyllis for her love and dedication towards his care and thank you to the Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care staff for all that they do.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from the hours of 7:00 – 9:00 pm, during which a Memorial Service will begin at 8:30 pm with Pastor Jeffrey White and Pastor Jamie Payne officiating. All are welcome to stay. As per Gary’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service at this time. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Gary to the Deer Lake Food Bank.
