Obituary of Carl Wilson Stowe (CARD OF THANKS)

The Stowe family would like to thank all those who came to the visitation and funeral, who sent and gave cards, and who made donations to the War Amps of Canada and the Diabetes Foundation. Your words of thoughtfulness and prayer made a difference during these past few days.

We the family of the late Carl Stowe announce his passing at Long Term Care, Corner Brook on June 26, 2023. Leaving to mourn his best friend and loving wife Bernice (nee Traverse). Daughters Lisa (Dawn) in Calgary and Carla in Pasadena and son Craig (Fred) in Toronto. Also the light of his life his grandson Isaac in Pasadena.

 

Leaving to mourn is his brother Rod in Little Rapids, sisters Gloria in Orangeville, Ont. and Marilyn (Byron) in Greenwood, Nova Scotia. Also, sisters in law Mable, Rita and Jess. Also to mourn his uncle, Meryl Gosse (Meta) in Pasadena and brothers in law Stuart (Inga) and Terrance (Linda), sister in law Pearl.

 

Carl was predeceased by his parents Roy and Eva Stowe (Fred Gillingham), parents in law Leamon and Clara Traverse, brothers Cal, Tony and Don, sister in law Marilyn and brother in law Lowell and brothers in law Ken (Eulah), and Lloyd (Joan).

 

Carl was born on Bell Island, moved to Curling with his parents at a young age where he grew up on Allen’s Road. He was a great story-teller, an avid woodsman who liked nothing more that to fish and hunt, and go berry picking with Bernice in the summer and fall. Growing up he was an active member of the Boy Scouts and United Church organizations. He was also an army veteran, a member of the Black Watch and an active member of the Pasadena Legion.

 

A special thank you to the staff of the Corner Brook Long Term Care facility. Carl was not there long, but your compassion, care and thoughtfulness while he was there was tremendous and it meant a lot to us.

 

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Thursday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, June 30 at 2:00 pm. From Fillatre’s Funeral Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Rev. Jocelyn Cook & Rev. Andrew Wright officiating. Interment at a later date.

 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Diabetes Foundation of Canada and The CHAMP program of the War Amps of Canada.
