Obituary of Dora Phyllis Payne

Dora Phyllis Payne
June 28, 1937 – July 12, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Dora Phyllis Payne announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her five children on July 12, 2023, at the age of 86 years.

She leaves to mourn her daughters Sharon Payne (Walter Francis), Darlene (Allan) Wilton, and Lola (David) Noel; sons Charlie Payne and Keith Payne (Sheena Francis); grandchildren Andriena (Ashley) Whynot, Melanie Sugimoto (Clay Greenleaf), April (Sheldon) Crocker, Mark Noel (Shayvonne Snook), Charlie Payne (Jenna Pike); great grandchildren Mia, Aiden, Nixon, Rocky and Wesley; sister Mary Barney;  special sister-in-law Sarah Normore and sister-in-law Mary Macdonald; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. A special mention to a long time family friend Patsy, who was always by moms side during her journey, thank you.

Dora was predeceased by her husband, Walter Payne; parents John and Ellen Normore of L’Anse-Au-Loup, NL; sisters Isabella, Margaret, Dorothy, and Gladys; brothers Michael, Llewelyn, Thomas, Stanford, William, Claude, John, and Gordon; brother-in-law Edward Payne; and precious grandson Michael Wilton.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nurses and staff at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Home for the kindness and compassion towards their mom during her stay.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Anglican Church of the Epiphany, Woody Point, NL on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from the hours of 7:00-9:00 pm and on Friday, July 14, 2023, from the hours of 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm, where also the funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Canon Francis Elgar officiating. Interment will follow at the Anglican Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers will graciously be accepted, or donations can be made in honor of Dora to a charity of one’s choice.
