Obituary of Harold Schwartz (Card of Thanks)

The family of the Late Harold Schwartz would like to express our heartfelt gratitude and deepest appreciation for the wonderful support from relatives, friends and neighbours after the passing of our much loved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Your unwavering support, presence and kind words meant a lot to all of us.

Thank you to Rev. Simon for your visits to Harold while he was in the hospital and palliative care, and for the lovely funeral service. Thank you to Betty Ann Pelley, Myrna Moss, and the pallbearers. Also Thank you to Fillatre’s Funeral Home and Crystal Young for your kindness and compassion.

Thank you to doctors, nurses, and staff at WMRH and Palliative Care for the excellent care given to Harold. Thank you for all the donations to WRMH, Deer Lake Food Bank, and St. Paul’s United Church and for all the food that was sent to our home.

Harold Schwartz
August 24, 1934 – July 18, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Harold Schwartz of Deer Lake, NL announce his passing on July 18, 2023, at the age of 88 years.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 66 years, Phyllis; children Arlene (Paul), Sharon (Derrick), and Glenn (Mary); daughter-in-law Thelma; grandchildren Adam, Sarah (Sascha), Andrew, Samantha, Melissa, and Kyler (Anna); great grandchildren Arianna and Emily; brothers Len (Barbara), Bernard (Marie), and John (Pat); sisters-in-law Marilyn (Bruce), Angele, and Karen; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Harold was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Ethel Schwartz; his son Keith; parents-in-law Stanley and Evelyn Mouland; brother Eddie (Pat); sister-in-law Beverley; and brothers-in-law Bert and William.

The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Western Long Term, Palliative Care in Corner Brook, their care and compassion will not be forgotten.

A visitation for family and friends will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Wednesday, July 19, 2023, from the hours of 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. A funeral service will take place at St. Paul’s United Church, 17 Spruce Street, Deer Lake on Thursday, July 20, 2023, beginning at 2:00 pm with Rev. Simon officiating. Interment will follow at the Deer Lake Interdenominational Cemetery, Wight’s Road. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Harold to the Deer Lake Foodbank or Western Memorial Regional Hospital Foundation.
