Patricia (Theresa) Simms
Dec 21st, 1960 - July 18th, 2023
Burgeo, NL.
It is with profound sadness that the family of the late Patricia Simms announce her passing on Tuesday July 18th, 2023, at the Calder Health Care Center in Burgeo with her loving family by her side. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories: her devoted husband and rock Calvin Dumaresque; her siblings Marilyn (Don), Shirley (Ron), Emily (Alton), Margaret (Clayton), Joe (Murrreen), Gordon (Theresa), David (Joyce), and Brian. Also, big teets pride and joy, her 19 nieces and nephews, her 25 great nieces and nephews as well as a very large circle of other relatives and friends.
Theresa was predeceased by the light of her life, her darling daughter Jody in 2011 who she is now reunited with in heaven. Oh, what a glorious moment that must have been! Together again
forever! Also, by her parents Jack and Annie Simms, her grandparents George and Agnes Coombs, Fred, and Effie Simms and Uncle John Coombs.
Family and friends may visit St. John the Evangelist Church in Burgeo on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral service will take place from the church on Friday July 21st at 2 pm. Funeral service will be live streamed for those unable to attend the service. Reverend Elsie Rose officiating. Interment will follow at Burgeo Community Cemetery. A lunch will follow at the Burgeo Fire Hall at 3:30 pm.
Theresa was well known in her community. She was involved with numerous organizations and events such as the Lioness Club, the vestry of St. John the evangelist (secretary, altar guild, took care of altar flowers, envelope secretary and fundraising events), cancer relay, Girl Guides, etc. A caring soul she certainly was. She was always there for everyone whether it was to visit a grieving family, prepare a meal or just be a shoulder to cry on. To her family, she was a source of strength and even though she was the youngest sister she was the glue that held the family together. Her family was her life. We were so blessed to have had her.
