Obituary of Thomas Alberto Hiscock
Thomas “Tom” Hiscock
February 7, 1935 - July 23, 2023
Corner Brook, NL
It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas “Tom” Hiscock announce his sudden passing on Sunday,
July 23, 2023, in Corner Brook, in his 89th year.
A self-described “Fix-It Man”, there was never a dull moment throughout his life. Tom worked for a variety of companies throughout his career, including the Bowater’s Mill and Lundrigan's Group, before venturing into his own businesses, The Home Brewer’s and Crocker & Wells.
During his retirement years you could often find him in one of three places; enjoying his cottage at Pinchgut Lake, in his workshop experimenting with new ideas, or in his den where he spent countless hours researching genealogy.
Tom always had a story to share for any occasion or situation. Fortunately, he documented many of these in his books for his family and future generations to enjoy. Most important to him were those he self-published detailing his life experiences, memories of his time at Pinchgut Lake, the history of Corner Brook as a first-generation resident, and a collection of family records and history.
He leaves behind to mourn his wife and constant companion in every adventure, Helen (nee Ball), children; Kim, Dede (Greg) and Todd (Lavina), grandchildren; Leah (Chris), Shilo (Matt), Tessa and Liam (Maddy) and Amber (Tyler), great-grandchildren; Greyson and Lennox, and sister-in-law; Jeannie (Don) Durfy as well as a large circle of close relatives and friends.
In keeping with his request, cremation has taken place. Friends, relatives, or acquaintances wishing to express their condolences to the family are invited to do so at Fillatre Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue, in Corner Brook on Thursday, July 27, 2023, between the hours of 2pm to 4pm. A celebration of life will be held the following day, Friday, July 28, 2023, at the same location, starting at 10:30am.
No flowers by request. Any donations in Tom's honour can be made to the Janeway Children's Hospital, which always held a special place in his heart.
