Obituary of William Sidney Benoit
William Sidney Ward Benoit
August 13th, 1943 - July 27th, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of the late William (Sidney) Ward Benoit, announce the passing of their loved one at the Calder Health Care Centre in Burgeo on Thursday, July 27th, 2023, at 79 years of age. He was born on the 13th day of August 1943 in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia but moved to Burgeo at the young age of only around six years old.
He was predeceased by his father Sidney Sr. his mother Wanda, his sister Sheila, and his great grandson Jax, our family's little angel. Give them all a big hug for us dad.
Sidney leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 59 years Vida, his three sons:Reg (Claudette), Don (Paula), and Danny (Maria), and his daughter Sharlen (Rick), his brother Murdock (Pearl) and his sister Sue, also a large circle of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with other extended family and friends.
Sidney is very proud of his time spent in the sea cadets when he was a young man. He was very multi-talented with his carpentry skills and anything that needed fixing. He enjoyed spending his time at his cabins and on the Grandy's River trying to hook the big salmon on the rock, that we all know as Sid's rock. If anyone needed a blue charm or any other type of salmon fly, they sure knew who to contact. Sidney was also a big time Boston Bruins fan who never missed a game of hockey.
Sidney's family would love to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Acadian Village in Stephenville, for taking care of him for the past two years. His favorite part was the music.
Thank you to all the doctors, nurses, management and staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville as well as the wonderful nurses, staff and doctors at Calder Health Care Centre in Burgeo for taking sure good care of him during his last days.
We will miss your wittiness and your laughter. Until we meet again dad, we love you and we will take care of mom.
