Renee Doreen Penney (nee Thomas)
April 6, 1936 – August 11, 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Renee Doreen Penney announce her peaceful passing at Western Long Term Care, Palliative Care Unit, on August 11th, 2023 at the age of 87 after a brief battle with cancer. Left to mourn with many fond and loving memories are her children: Randy Penney (Launa), Rodney Penney (Alice); grandchildren: Meghan Hancock, Venna Penney, Randi Penney, Ashley Chaffey (Donnie Mollon), and Raymond Diamond (Kim Saunders); great-grandchildren: Lundyn Chaffey and Harlan Chaffey; brothers Melvin Thomas (Selma), Wally Thomas and her sister Joan Wiseman; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Renee was predeceased by her husband Frank Dempsey Penney, parents John and Tryphena Thomas; brothers: Max, Garfield, and Clyde; and her sister Geraldine.
There will be a funeral service on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, with Captain Kim Chan officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. There will be a social gathering held after the interment at the Salvation Army Citadel, 36 Clarence Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NL West SPCA
