Obituary of Sonora Mae Collett

January 15, 1938 - August 20, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sonora Mae Collett (nee Payne) on Sunday, August 20th, 2023 at the Rufus Guinchard Health Centre at the age of 85.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           

Leaving to mourn with loving and cherished memories, her children;  Vicky Payne (Dennis), Douglas Collett, Janet House (Kent), Jackie Caines, Sharon Humber (Ross), Grandchildren;  Jennifer (Clinton), Adam, Jamie (Casey), Corey (Kellie), Janie (Derick), Kaitlan (Brian), Riley.  Great -Grandchildren;  Cameron, Claire, Emery, Charleigh, Quinn, Carter, Teagan, Kinley, Jade, Kaylee.  Siblings;  Jean Evoy, Betty Ellsworth, Bryant Payne, Willis Payne (Lorna).  In-laws;  Fred Collett (Olive), Neil Collett (Marg), Bob Brown ( Judy), Gerald Gilley, Mona Payne.                                                                                                                                                                                                                             

Sonora was predeceased by her husband;  Douglas Collett, her parents;  William and Martha Payne, her son -in-law;  Austin Caines, siblings;  Forward Payne, Amelia and Lloyd Sheppard, Doreen and Bill Torraville, Henry Payne, Laurant Payne, Rowena Gilley, Juanita Payne, Alphonsus and Sandra Payne.  In-laws;  Claude Ellsworth, Sam Evoy, Lily and Bill Perry, Effie Brown, Edward and Margaret Collett, Clara Collett, Grace and Harold Sheppard.                                                                                                                                                                                                 

Sonora will also be fondly remembered by a large extended family of nieces and nephews, cousins and life-long friends.  Special mention of;  Effie Hobbs, Shelly (Marc), Stephanie (Tim), Alex, Claire, Jacob, Emilia and Brian.                                                                                                                                                                                             

The family will be receiving family and friends, Wednesday, August 23rd and Thursday, August 24th 2-4pm and 7-9pm at St.  Josephs Anglican Church in Portland Creek.  Where the funeral service will be held on Friday, August 25th at 2pm, with Rev.  Terry Rose officiating.  Burial to follow at Holy Cross Anglican Cemetery in Daniels Harbour.
