Obituary of Wendy Jane Best
Please share a memory of Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Wendy Jane Best on September 3, 2023 at the Labrador Health Centre, in the presence of her loving family.
Leaving to mourn are her daughters Denise (Todd) Rumbolt and Terri Heard (Shawn McDonald); grandsons: Kyle Rumbolt and Mitchell McDonald; sister in law Lorraine Cooper, niece Kim Savage and nephew Robin Cooper and their families; brother Garry Mesher (Betty) and family; sisters in law Carol Callahan, Donna Best, Drue Rumbolt (Watson), Claudine Broomfield (Pat) and Sharon Campbell (Perry). Brothers in law, Shont (Gloria) Best, Dorman Campbell, and Randy, (Melissa) Best and their families. Also, her beloved grand-puppies Willow, Nugget, Dexter, and Koivu.
Jane was predeceased and lovingly reunited with her husband of 30 years Raymond Best, her granddaughter Candice Cooper, and her brother Jack Cooper.
Jane worked at the Newfoundland and Labrador legal aid commission for 30 years and was fortunate to have a large circle of work colleagues who were very important to her. She was also an active member of the Kinsmen ladies dart league, whose weekly dart nights were more about friendship and camaraderie than competition. She will miss them all.
The family would like to thank the fabulous staff at the Labrador Health Centre for the care she received over the last several months. Special thanks to Dr. Cody O’Brien, nurses Janella and Diane. We will always be grateful for the care, compassion and friendship of Dr. Crocker, Angie Lawrence and Denise Gould, who made the difficult moments easier.
As an expression of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted (as she loved flowers of all kinds) or a donation can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
A funeral service will be held at the Happy Valley - Goose Bay United Church, Hamilton River Road, on Friday September 8th, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Nellie Thomas officiating.
