Noreen, Justin, Jessica and Families: I am very sorry for your loss.
John is a person who made a great impact on my life. As a young lad (around 12 or 13), I was in the beach around the Government Wharf in Port Saunders looking for Tanzies and Baby Sculpins.
I had collected a few in a tin can full of salt water by the time I had to go home for supper. Being the kind lad that I was, I decided to return them to the salt water. I went up on the Wharf and threw them over the side.
I didn't look very well as there was a raft tied on the side of the wharf where men were repairing the face of the wharf, and all the fish landed on the raft.
I couldn't leave them there, so I jumped down to toss them into the water. Again not being very observant (In a hurry), I failed to notice that the tide had gone out and the raft was suspended above the water. When I landed on the raft, low and behold it tipped over and I ended up in the water. I couldn't swim at the time and I went under. I remember bobbing back up and going under again. I thought that I was a gonner!
All of a sudden someone (John) grabbed me by the hair on my head and hauled me back to the surface. (Thank God I had hair then!). So if it wasn't for John, I wouldn't be here now.
A little while back, I told John that every Good Deed and every Bad Mistake I made, he would have to answer to for it was his FAULT as he saved me!
... John I hope that my Good Deeds outweigh the Bad ones so as not to cause you any grief in your New Digs.. Love and Miss you. John W White
