Alva Rowena (nee Crocker) VARDY (Formerly of Trout River) December 3, 1929 - March 10, 2010 It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alva Rowena Vardy announce her passing on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, at the age of 80 years. She was predeceased by parents Lionel and Whilemena Crocker; husband Garland; sister-in-law Patricia Watton; brother-in-law James Shirley McLean. Leaving to mourn with wonderful memories sons: Brian (Heather) and Paul (Muriel); treasured grandchildren Kyle, Kathryn, Matthew and Nicholas; sisters: Lola McLean and Genova Gilbert (Max); sisters-in-law: Phyllis Gilliam and Alva Vardy; brothers-in-law: Tom Gilliam, Bob Watton and John Vardy; 7 nieces; 5 nephews, as well as a large circle of friends. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 218 Curling St. on Friday and Saturday between the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The Funeral Service will take place at St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Curling on Sunday, March 14th at 2:00 pm. Reverend Edmund Laldin officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church.
