It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sophie Margaret Ford announce her passing on September 30, 2023 at the Labrador Health Centre in Happy Valley-Goose Bay at the age of 88 years.
Born in Black Island, Labrador on October 15, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Julius (Joe) and Rosina (Pamak) Ford.
Sophie will be most remembered for her roles as sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She led a full life and was loved by many. Her favourite pastimes were playing bingo, knitting, sewing and playing cards. She loved her wild food (fish and partridge) and in her younger years baked bread and pies and fed a large family. She gave freely of her love and had a way to make everyone feel special.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her children Mary (Larry), Rosie (Brian), Joey (Susan), Harry (Pamela), Leo, George (Tina), Michael (Sarah), Karen (Barry), and John (Cathy); sisters Christine, Dora, and Ellen; 35 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
