Obituary of Charles Harvey Groves
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Charles Harvey Groves announce his passing on October 4th at Happy Valley. At the age of 71 years.
Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are wife of 49 years Sharon, children Tim(Wendy), Dawn(Jarvis) and grandchildren Colson, Alyssa and Abby, sisters Peggy, and Carol(Phil) and brother John(Barb). As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Charlie was born October 21, 1951 in Hamilton River now known as Happy Valley. He spent his younger years between his family home on Groves Point and Grenfell Street. He met the love of his life Sharon at age 20, and they later went on to have two children, Dawn and Tim. He made a living as a heavy equipment mechanic, and in his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and camping. Family has always been Charlie’s number one priority, and he was overjoyed when his grandchildren were born. The highlights of many of his days were “Charlie’s after-school“ daycare with his granddaughters and watching Colson’s hockey games. He enjoyed his family get togethers and spending time with friends . He was a big fan of the Montreal Canadians, Coronation Street, and old fashioned country music. He was well loved by all who knew him.
Friends may visit Fillatre’s funeral home Saturday October 7th from 2-4. The funeral will be held on Sunday October 8th at 4:00pm from the United church with Reverend Alice officiating.
Special thanks to the staff at the Labrador Health Center and Nunatsiavut home support program.
