Obituary of Dessa Mary Payne

March 18th, 1946 - October 9th, 2023                                                                                                                                                                      

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dessa Mary Payne, who left us on Monday, October 9th at the age of 77.                     

Dessa was a woman of unwavering strength, remarkable independence and an indomitable spirit.  She was known and cherished by all in her community, leaving an indelible mark on the lives she touched.  She was a devoted mother to her son, Boyd Payne and daughter Judy Payne, providing them with boundless love and support throughout their lives.  Her dedication to her family knew no leaps or bounds and her legacy will live on through them. 

As a grandmother, Dessa was a source of endless comfort.  She had an unparalleled ability to infuse playfulness into every moment. creating cherished memories for her two grandaughters, Miranda and Vanessa.  Her cooking, games and warm embraces will forever be etched in their hearts. Dessa was not only a loving Matriarch but also a beacon of strength in her community.  Her tireless work ethic served as an inspiration to all who knew her.  She was a role model, a trusted friend and a source of wisdom to those in need.

Her passing leaves a void that can never be filled but her memory will forever remain in our hearts.  We find solace in knowing that Dessa is now at peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before her. Predeceased by her husband Boyde Payne and her parents Romeo and Mathurine Gould. 

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Dessa Payne will be held on Sunday, October 15th at 2 pm, at Saint Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Port au Choix, Father Rossi officiating.  Family and friends are invited to join us in honouring her memory and sharing stories of her remarkable life.

Dessa Mary Payne will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege  of knowing her.  May she rest in eternal peace.
