Obituary of Howard Michelin
Please share a memory of Howard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that the family of Howard “Hub” Michelin announce his passing on October 26, 2023, at the Labrador Health Centre in his 77th year surrounded by family.
Leaving to mourn are his wife of 55 years Helen; sons Derek (Cindy) and Danny, daughters Krista (Wade) and Kathy; four grandchildren Brandon, Joette, Jenelle, and Jasmine; his best furbud Sami; and his mother Dorothy.
Hub will be missed by his siblings Marguerite, Richard (Carolyn), Bertha, Ethel, Reg (Joann), Bernard, Norma, Stewart and June, sister-in law Lillian (Leo), brother-in-law Wallace as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Predeceased by his father George, father-in-law William, brother Raymond, brothers-in-law Jerry, Bob, and Ernest (Liz) sisters-in-law Annette, Margie, Cora, and Pearl (John) and grandson Tyson James (TJ).
Hub retired as a firefighter and volunteer firefighter after 30 years of service. Hub loved spending time at the cabin with his wife and dog, out on the land hunting and fishing, gardening potatoes and pumpkins and the occasional game on his iPad. He was often helping his children with projects around their house, spoiling and making time for his grandchildren who he loved immensely, or having a tea and a game of crib with his mother.
Visitation will take place at Fillatres Funeral Home on Sunday, October 29, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A service will take place at the United Church on Monday, October 30 at 2:00pm followed by a service at the United Church cemetery. Please join the family for a celebration of life at the Royal Canadian Legion afterwards.
Hub would give the shirt off his back for anyone and the best way to honour his memory is with donations to the Helping Hands organization to help support our long-term care residents or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Labrador Health Centre, especially Dr. Harper and nurses Sara and Amanda, for the exceptional care and compassion that Hub received.
