Obituary of Charlotte Rosalie Flynn
In Loving Memory of Charlotte Rosalie (Buckle) Flynn
November 22, 1933 to October 31, 2023
It is with both sadness and joy that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother from the loving arms of her children to the arms of her Saviour on October 31, 2023. Charlotte was a delightful lady whose life was a testament to her unwavering faith, boundless compassion, and profound love for her family.
Charlotte's passion for spreading warmth and care knew no bounds. She had a heart that radiated with empathy, and she delighted in visiting “the elderly”, comforting the sick, and bringing hope to the shut-in. She was well known for her beautiful singing voice and selfless acts of love and kindness which were an encouragement to so many.
Her love for the Lord Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her existence. She took Christ as her Saviour when she was 25, and that pivotal moment changed the course of her life. Her faith was more than a mere belief; it was a source of strength and inspiration. Prayer was an integral part of Charlotte’s life. She had a deep and abiding relationship with her Heavenly Father, spending time in prayer each day as she interceded on behalf of her loved ones and those in need. Her unwavering faith in the power of prayer inspired all who knew her, and her life was a living testament to the transformative power of salvation.
Charlotte's love for her family was a source of boundless joy and comfort. She cherished her loved ones, and her family was the heart of her world. Her unwavering support, encouragement, and the warmth of her love were a constant source of strength for her family members. Her legacy of love and devotion to her family will forever be etched in their hearts (along with the memories of fish cakes and wool socks!).
Labrador, her home, held a special place in Charlotte's heart. She reveled in the beauty of its landscapes, and its rugged terrain reflected her resilience and determination. In her quiet moments, she would make her famous bakeapple pie, a true labor of love, and share it with others over a cup of tea. These simple pleasures brought her immense joy and offered a glimpse into the depth of her character.
She leaves to mourn her four children: Shirley Normore (Michael), David (Miriam), Ivan, Gideon (Kim); daughters-in-law: Ruth, Melita; her grand children: Melanie, Angie (Jon), Stephanie (Paul), Sarah, Paul (Hannah), Rebekah (Abel), Michael (Sarah), Brian, Reisha, Tyrone (Dayna), Brittany (Keith), Mark (Derek), Karen (Rick), Jonathan (Suzanne), Robbie (Millie), Jenna (David); and her great-grand children: Jadyn, Michael, Lincoln, Ava, Sophie, Aspen, Vesper, Alice, Hailey, Faith, Edward, Samuel, Cole, Brooklyn, Fox, Morgan, Ali; her sisters: Shirley Martin, Linda Barkhouse (Tom); brothers: Gideon (Mable) and Arthur; Sisters-in-law: Dinah Buckle, Vivian Buckle and Olive Trimm. Flynn brothers and sisters-in-law; Raymond Flynn, Dennis Flynn (Anne - special berry picking friend), Rosie Flynn and Laura Flynn; special friend Rita Davis and many more nieces, nephews and friends who loved “Aunt Charlotte” dearly.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, William and Effie Buckle, her husband Edward John Flynn (2009), Sons Melvin (2016) and Douglas (2017) and her brothers Stanley George, Harold and William.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary woman, let us remember her with gratitude for the love she shared, the hymns she sang, and the prayers she offered. May we all find comfort in the knowledge that she now worships in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply.
