It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear brother, John “Jack” William Cashin on Friday, November 3, 2023 at Corner Brook Long Term Care, 2 North Gooseberry Lane Unit at the age of 70 years.

He is predeceased by his parents, Nina and William Cashin; grandparents, Wallace and Clara Crocker and Richard and Catherine Cashin; brother Michael Cashin, sister-in-law Valda Cashin; special cousin Irvine Barrett and very special friends Linda French and Butch Barron.

He leaves to mourn his only sister, Kitty (Leonard Kelly), brothers Richard and Pat (Mary Louise), sister-in-law Mary Cashin; nieces and nephews, Paula, Mary, Richard, Trina, Patrick and Jamie; great nieces and great nephews, aunts Verna Barrett and Marina Cashin; special cousin Gordon Barrett (Paulette) and many cousins and friends.

At his request there will be no formal visitation or funeral service. A graveside service will be held for family and friends at Mount Patricia cemetery on Thursday, November 9th at 11 AM, where his ashes will be laid to rest with Mom and Dad, officiated by Fr. Ed Terry.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.

At this time, we would like to thank all the staff who were his second family on the Protective Unit and later, 2 North Gooseberry Lane Unit, for all the care and kindness given to John while he was a resident there. You were all angels.
