Reverend Richard James Thomson, passed away the evening of Nov. 25th, 2023 in Corner Brook Newfoundland. He passed away peacefully in his sleep after many long fought battles and triumphs. He will be missed, but the value he brought to all who knew him will never be forgotten and will be cherished always. He was a man that saw the good in everyone, was always there to listen and shared his wisdom whenever needed.

He is survived by his wife Gillian LeFevre Thomson, his sons Richard (Heather), Peter, Robert, Chris (Lesley) and special daughter Yuki Kurata. Sisters Faye (Craig) Williston, Anne (Rick) Holmes. Grandchildren; Matthew (Brooke), Elizabeth (Zack), Mackenzie, Keegan (Chelsea), Connor, Harrison, Grayson. Nieces and nephews; Kelly, Adam, Tonya, Shawn, Scott, Jenny, Justin and Ryan.

He is predeceased by his father Richard C. Thomson, his mother Beatrice Gilpin Thomson and his brother Terry Thomson.

Dad’s faith was a very important part of who he was and during his short time he served in the parishes of St. James and St. Ambrose, he left an indelible impression on all those that had the privilege of meeting him.  Even though he was taken away from parish ministry he continued to be active at many churches within the Corner Brook area which brought him much joy.

We would like to thank the staff of Mountainview House for all of the loving care that they provided Dad and the exceptional care the staff of Memorial Hospital has provided to him over the years.  Also a special thank you to Jenetta Butler for the years of exceptional home care.

Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home 4 St. Marks Avenue, Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The service will take place Friday December 1, 2023 at 2:00 pm from St. James Anglican Church in Lark Harbour followed by interment at the Church Cemetery.
