Obituary of Sheila Pardy

Please share a memory of Sheila to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sheila Lillian Bertha Pardy (nee Mitchell) on Monday, November 28th, 2023 at the Labrador Health Centre at the age of 65.

Sheila was born in North West River on May 24th, 1958 and baptized by Reverend Vollprecht on June 22nd, 1958. She grew up in Makkovik, the place that she always called home. She loved telling stories, spending time with friends and family, Christmas, Tetley tea, music, bingo and Texas hold’em. She firmly believed that you should never fold on a pair of pocket aces.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her husband Lee Pardy, daughter Beryl (Greg), son Brandon (Regan) and stepchildren Kris, Cassie (Terry) and Reg (Megan).

Sheila dearly loved her grandchildren Mitchell, Leyna and Paula and her step grandchildren Shelby, Sierrah, Lincoln, Jace, Josie, Emily and Lenox. She will also be deeply missed by her siblings Lester and Gerald (Liz), sister-in-law Kate and many aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Sheila was predeceased by her parents Wilson and Elsie, brothers Jesse and Horace, sister Irene and nephew Craig.

Sheila was so grateful for the support she received over her courageous battle against cancer, this was shown in a note that her family found in her journal after her passing: ‘We will never know what we will face in life but will have to accept things as they happen. I have been so blessed as I faced my adversity because I knew that so many loving family, friends, co-workers and even strangers supported me through this journey.’

The memorial service will be held at the Moravian Church in Happy Valley-Goose Bay on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023 at 2:00pm with Liz Evans-Mitchell officiating. The family asks that you wear something to the service that reminds you of Sheila. A celebration of life and ashes spreading will be held at a later date in Makkovik.

As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Air Daffodil.
