Louise Mary Eloise Gilbert

August 15, 1938 - December 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the Late Louise Mary Eloise Gilbert announce her peaceful passing at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital on December 11, 2023 at the age of 85 years.

She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her children:  Ann, Donna, Sheila (Graham White), Karen (Monty Madore), Beverly (partner Dean Skinner), Malcolm (Lora), Stewart (Veronica), David (Alice), Troy ( Sandra Taylor), Dean, Jerry (Amanda King); 20 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters Eileen, Theresa and Delores and brother Jerry and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends especially her beloved friend Maude Chaffey.

Louise was predeceased by her parents Cyril & Phonsine Brake, brother Michael (S) White, husband Malcolm Thomas Gilbert, son Billy Gilbert and granddaughter Holly Madore.

Louise really enjoyed her “Ride For Ages” because it was a time to travel with her friends and bus driver Troy Morrey. Louise really enjoyed and loved getting together with her hair dresser of many years Shannon Alley. She also had such a bond with her cat “Mickey”. Louise touched the lives of so many people with her presence and morning post on Facebook. She always looked forward to her routine morning walk to the store for the mail to chat with the staff and anyone she met along her way. If anyone wanted info pertaining to birthdays or anything in the community they could always count on her encyclopedia memory for the information.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital for their professionalism, particularly Dr. Dwyer, nurse Callie and all the nurses who took care of our mom in palliative care.

Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Visitation on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 2:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the St. Columcille Church in St. Fintan’s.  Church Service Thursday, December 14, 2023 @ 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Maurice O’Quinn officiating.  Interment to follow at the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Highlands.
