Obituary of Elizabeth Dolores Young

Dolores Young (better known as Tutsy)

Stephenville, NL

May 14, 1942 – December 11, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Dolores (Tutsy) Young at the age of 81 years.  After battling Parkinson’s disease for 4 years and suffering a fractured hip and stroke, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband Frank Drake and her three children: Dawn (Lynn), Corinne and Nickum. Also by her only grandchild Garrett and her great-grandchildren Tyrell and MacLaren, her sisters Eileen and Theresa, her brother Gerry and many other relatives and friends.

She was pre-deceased by her father Cyril Brake, her mother Phonsina Brake (White), her brother Michael and sister Louise.  Also by her first husband Nickum Young.

Doloros worked as a correctional officer in the Stephenville Correctional facility and retired after 30 years of service.  She had a passion for playing cards and dancing as well as many other hobbies.

Visitation on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Stephenville Crossing, NL.

As per her wishes she will be buried on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Roman Catholic Cemetery,  Brook Street, Stephenville Crossing, at 10:00 a.m. No church service.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home,  Stephenville Crossing, NL.
