Obituary of Sybil Kathleen Evans
Sybil Kathleen Evans (nee Keats)
September 27, 1936 – December 15, 2023
It is with broken hearts the family of Sybil Kathleen Evans (nee Keats) announce her passing on December 15th, 2023 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit, surrounded by her loving family.
A devoted wife, mother, mother in law,grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Born to Eva and Harold Keats in Newtown, Bonavista Bay on September 27, 1936. Through the years, she welcomed two sisters and a brother, all of whom she adored. At the age of 12, the family moved to Cormack. There, she met the love of her life and the man who became her husband, Hoover Evans. They married in 1955. Together, they had six children. They created a home of inclusivity and the largest welcome mat around. After you visited the family home, you became part of the family.
Sybil leaves to mourn, with fond and loving memories, her children, Brian (Glenda), Harold (Sharon), Joy, Judy (Arliss) Joanne (Larry) and son in law, Scott. Her grandchildren, Peter (Jennifer), Michael, Kevin (Lori), Scotty (Danielle), Ian (Moya), Mark (Lindsay), Melaine (Mike), Megan (Joey), Katie (Mike), Jillian, Evan (Kaitlyn), as well as 10 great grandchildren. Sisters, Beatrice (Beaton) Nichols and Eleanor (Roger) Maloney. Sisters in law, Glennis Keats, Marjorie Schroeder, Joy Squires, Linda (Bob) Watkins, Maxine Evans and Julie Braun. Brothers-in-law, Truance and Gerald Evans. Nieces, nephews, cousins and a large circle of friends.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Hoover, and daughter, Carol Ball. Parents, Harold and Eva Keats, Mother and Father-in-law, Clayton and Hazel Evans, brother, Harold Keats Jr. Daughter-in-law, Patrica Evans. Brothers-in-law, Stanley and Edward Evans, Clarence Squires. Sister-in-law, Marie Evans.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatres Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake, NL.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 18th, 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm.
Service will be held at St. Michael’s and All Angels Anglican Church, at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 19th.
In lieu of flowers, donations graciously accepted.
