With broken hearts and deep sadness, the family of the late Frank Durnford announce his passing on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Western Memorial Regional Hospital at the age of 74 years.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife, Maisie, of 51 years, daughter Trina (Chris), son Sheldon (Leanne) and grandchildren Adam, Matthew and Spencer who were his pride and joy. Also brothers Garry (Barb) and Hayward (Marjorie) and sister Joyce (Lewis), sister-in-laws Barb (Dave), Delores and Elizabeth and brother-in-laws Finley and Michael (Heather) as well as a large number of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Predeceased by his parents, Abraham George and Pearl Durnford, father and mother-in-law, Nathan and Vera Bagg, brother Arthur and brother-in-law Kevin.

Frank loved the ocean and began his career at the age of 16 starting as a deckhand and working his way up to captain at the young age of 23 until his retirement. After spending a year sailing around the world on the CSS Hudson he spent the rest of his sea life with the Marine Atlantic between Newfoundland, Labrador and Nova Scotia. When he wasn’t at sea, he enjoyed spending his time hunting, skidooing and fishing with his loving wife and close friends and family.

The family would like to extend thank you to the staff, doctors and nurses at CHCC and Western Memorial for the care given to Frank.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no service at this time. Friends and family are welcome to come by to celebrate his life with drinks and snacks and share stories of their fond memories of Frank.
